As we move into Lent, you may be interested to see what our local churches are doing for Easter. Please visit our list of Lent and Easter services and events to what your local church is planning.
Although the Monash Council had given its approval for us to hold The Way of the Cross event this year at Waverley Central Oval, on Good Friday, the lack of sufficient numbers of volunteers to lead the event has forced the Glen Waverley Interchurch Council to cancel the event.
We are looking at some possible options to replace this central event, so please watch this space.
For example, other groups are holding Way of the Cross events, and you would be welcome to attend any of them. One such opportunity is with the Canterbury Council of Churches, who write:
The Canterbury Council of Churches will host Stations of the Cross, to be held on Good Friday at 12 noon at the Highfield Oval (corner of Highfield and Riversdale Roads, Canterbury). Those gathered walk around the oval stopping for a prayer and Bible reading as the events of Good Friday are re-enacted. This is followed by an Easter Egg hunt for young children. The adults share a hot cross bun. The unaccompanied singing is lead by the local Tongan congregation [Balwyn Road Canterbury, Uniting Church].
GWICC has connections with the Monash Interfaith Gathering group. They have just published their new web page here.
